Dr. Eric Davis co-founded Life Recovery Center in 2004 and currently serves as Co-Executive Director. He has worked in the field of mental health and addiction for nearly twenty years and provides therapy from a holistic perspective--noting the importance of integrally addressing the needs of mind, body, and spirit in a successful recovery program. A devoted lifelong learner, his primary areas of professional interest include mental health and addiction recovery, counselor supervision and education, psychopathology and criminal thinking, and the role of spirituality in the therapeutic process.
Eric is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC), International Certified Gambling Counselor (ICGC-II), and ICADV-Certified Domestic Violence Batterers Intervention Program Senior Facilitator (BIP-SF). He obtained his Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) in 1999, Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2002, and Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology and Christian Counseling (Ph.D.) in 2010. Additionally, he holds advanced international certifications in the areas of addiction counseling, gambling counseling, and Christian counseling. He was ordained into ministry on March 22, 2009, and is happy to offer Christian counseling upon client request.
Eric is the author of the book, The Bible and Recovery: A Review of Biblical Aspects of the Twelve Steps and Other Recovery Principles. He has contributed articles on addiction recovery, self-help, and mental health-related topics to national magazines and has been featured on the radio, podcasts, local news, and in the Indianapolis Star, USA Today, and the NY Daily News. He is a regular trainer for the Indiana Office of Court Services and has been a guest speaker and presenter at numerous professional conferences, universities, churches, courts, probation offices, hospitals, and treatment facilities.
Always involved and passionate about mental health and addiction recovery, Eric is currently serving his second term as President of the Indiana Credentialing Association on Addiction and Drug Abuse (ICAADA) and sits on the Board of Directors of Mental Health America of Indiana, the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Indiana Counseling Association, and the Indiana Council on Problem Gambling. He also serves as a committee member on both the Human Services Advisory Committee of Ivy Tech Community College and the Recovery Committee of the National Council on Problem Gambling. In addition to the professional associations mentioned, Eric is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the American Psychological Association, the International Association of Christian Counseling Professionals, and is a charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.
In 2015, Eric was appointed by Vice President of the United States Mike Pence (then Governor) to the State of Indiana's Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Council (DVPT). Later that same year, he was named "Outstanding Batterers Intervention Professional of 2015" by the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The following year, on behalf of Life Recovery Center, he accepted an award for being named "Outstanding Community Partner of 2016" by the Phylis Lan Lin Department of Social Work at the University of Indianapolis.
In addition to his work at Life Recovery Center, Eric is also a faculty member of the Phylis Lan Lin Department of Social Work at the University of Indianapolis. He also regularly teaches classes for the Indiana University School of Social Work at IUPUI and the Department of Psychological Science and Counseling at Marian University.
Eric is also a professional musician (drummer, guitarist, and vocalist) who enjoys writing and performing music.
