Eric L. Davis, Ph.D., LCSW, LCAC, ICGC-II, BACC

Co-Founder, Co-Executive Director

Dr. Eric Davis co-founded Life Recovery Center in 2004 and currently serves as Co-Executive Director. He has worked in the field of mental health and addiction for nearly twenty years and provides therapy from a holistic perspective; noting the importance of integrally addressing the needs of mind, body, and spirit in a successful recovery program. A devoted lifelong learner, his primary areas of professional interest include mental health and addiction recovery, counselor supervision and education, psychopathology and criminal thinking, and the role of spirituality in the therapeutic process.


Eric is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC), International Certified Gambling Counselor (ICGC-II), Board-Approved Clinical Consultant (BACC), and ICADV-Certified Domestic Violence Batterers Intervention Program Senior Facilitator (BIP-SF). He obtained his Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) in 1999, Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2002, and Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology and Christian Counseling (Ph.D.) in 2010. Additionally, he holds advanced international certifications in the areas of addiction counseling, gambling counseling, clinical consulting, and Christian counseling. He was ordained into the ministry on March 22, 2009, and is happy to offer Christian counseling upon client request.


Eric is the author of the book, The Bible and Recovery: A Review of Biblical Aspects of the Twelve Steps and Other Recovery Principles. He has contributed articles on addiction recovery, self-help, and mental health-related topics to national magazines and has been featured on the radio, podcasts, local news, and in the Indianapolis Star, USA Today, and the NY Daily News. He is a regular trainer for the Indiana Office of Court Services and has been a guest speaker and presenter at numerous professional conferences, universities, churches, courts, probation offices, hospitals, and treatment facilities. 


Always involved and passionate about mental health and addiction recovery, Eric is currently serving his second term as President of the Indiana Credentialing Association on Addiction and Drug Abuse (ICAADA) and sits on the Board of Directors of Mental Health America of Indiana, the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Indiana Counseling Association, and the Indiana Council on Problem Gambling. He also serves as a committee member on both the Human Services Advisory Committee of Ivy Tech Community College and the Recovery Committee of the National Council on Problem Gambling. In addition to the professional associations mentioned, Eric is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the American Psychological Association, the International Association of Christian Counseling Professionals, and is a charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.


In 2015, Eric was appointed by Vice President of the United States Mike Pence (then Governor) to the State of Indiana's Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Council (DVPT). Later that same year, he was named "Outstanding Batterers Intervention Professional of 2015" by the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The following year, on behalf of Life Recovery Center, he accepted an award for being named "Outstanding Community Partner of 2016" by the Phylis Lan Lin Department of Social Work at the University of Indianapolis.


In addition to his work at Life Recovery Center, Eric is also a faculty member of the Phylis Lan Lin Department of Social Work at the University of Indianapolis. He also teaches courses on a regular basis for the Indiana University School of Social Work at IUPUI and the Department of Psychological Science and Counseling at Marian University.

Eric is also a professional musician (drummer, guitarist, and vocalist) who enjoys writing and performing music.

Tom Prendergast, LCAC, ICAADC, ICOGS

Co-Founder, Co-Executive Director

Mr. Tom Prendergast co-founded Life Recovery Center in 2004 and currently serves as Co-Executive Director. He has worked in the field of addiction counseling for nearly thirty years and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience. Throughout his career, Tom has worked as a counselor, program manager, and administrator. He has extensive experience working with a variety of populations, including adolescents, adults, families, individuals, and teams. 


Tom is a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC) who holds a Bachelors degree in Addiction Studies (BS) who holds advanced international certifications in the areas of addiction counseling and disordered gambling counseling. He is also an ICADV State-Certified Domestic Violence Batterers Intervention Program Senior Facilitator (BIP-SF) and has been featured as an expert discussing domestic violence issues in the Indianapolis Star and on Fox 59 news. 


Tom is very active in the fight against domestic violence and the disease of addiction. He is a member of the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Indiana Credentialing Association on Addiction and Drug Abuse and the National Council on Problem Gambling. A firm believer in the power of education and prevention, Tom is a regular trainer for the Indiana Office of Court Services and has facilitated numerous professional trainings throughout the years. He has presented at multiple conferences, courts, treatment facilities, and probation offices.


Tom takes a thorough approach to addiction counseling; making sure his clients are not just well educated on the nature of the disease of addiction but the applicable dynamics of living life in recovery. He works hard to empower his clients to see their capacity for change and to take responsibility for improving their lives. 


Tom's primary areas of professional interest include substance abuse and disordered gambling treatment, domestic violence prevention, batterers intervention programming, and working with military veterans.


Tom is an Honorably Discharged Veteran of the United States Air Force who enjoys being outdoors and riding motorcycles in his spare time.
